Kia PH officially launches the new Stonic crossover to tap stylish and young market

Thursday, October 15, 2020

Fashion is not about following a trend, but being the standard. As their latest testament to its “Power to Surprise” slogan, Kia Philippines is unboxing its latest model that will surely be enjoyed by the fun-loving and goal-driven Filipino car buyers.

After much fanfare prior to its formal introduction, the Korean automotive marque has set the stage for the new Kia Stonic to cater to the young trendsetters.

With a catchphrase “Style That Is Iconic,” the new Stonic crossover is bound to fit modern-day demands of the adventurous, young and active buyers who want to express their unconventional taste in design and aesthetics.

The digital unveiling was spearheaded by the triumvirate of equally-dynamic and active executives for the local arm of the Korean automaker, namely AC Industrials Chairman and CEO Arthur Tan, AC Motors automotive group President Antonio “Toti” Zara III and Kia Philippines President Manny Aligada.

Tan expressed his firm confidence on the new Stonic, claiming that it will be a frontrunner for Kia in its bid to be one of the key players in the industry—alongside other volume sellers from its stable such as the Soluto, Seltos and K2500.

Meanwhile, Aligada said that their latest model is designed to set a new trend in the local automotive arena. “For over 70 years, Kia has been innovating the way we design vehicles. Today, we are proud to launch the Kia Stonic—which has Style that’s Iconic,” he expressed.

“With a vehicle like this, we hope to be a driving force for you, the Filipino youth, who are on your way to where you want to go,” Aligada added.

And indeed, it is equipped with trend-setting features above its category. The chic crossover—as envisioned by Kia Chief Designer Peter Schreyer— has expressed its European Design Language through its compact footprint and sharp lines that blended quintessentially with the signature Tiger Nose Grille. This groundbreaking design earned recognitions from globally-renowned iF Design and Red Dot Awards.

The new Stonic is available in five iconic hues to match its looks: Prime Red, Clear White (for the LX variants), Extreme Blue (offered in all three variants) and the two-tone Black/Flame Orange, Black/Flash Yellow and Black/Clear White (exclusive for the top variant EX).

Standing 4,100mm long, 1,735mm wide and 1,533mm high with a 2,570 wheelbase as well as a ground clearance of 185mm, the new Stonic has the right size to grab attention on the road, yet still makes it a comfortable, daily-driven vehicle on urban roads. A real head turner, the 16-inch alloy wheels complete its sporty look.

Potent Power Mill

The new Stonic is more than just a stylish crossover as the vehicle can also deliver outstanding performance. Equipped with a 1.4 dual CVVT engine that is mated to either a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission, this powertrain can provide 95 PS and 100 PS, respectively. Not only that, the engine-transmission combo makes it very efficient in terms of fuel consumption.

The engine and the interior engineering of the new Stonic are bound to carry huge hauls as it is designed to easily transport more than 325 liters of cargo, giving owners more freedom to bring what they need for work or leisure purposes. The said cargo space is applicable when the seats are in an upright position —and even more if the rear seats are folded flat.

Entertainment System

Specifically-designed for the young and active, the new Stonic makes sure that every trip is enjoyable. To keep occupants entertained, the new Stonic has an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay to make every trip lively—be it in the middle of traffic jams or long journeys to the beach. This multimedia player delivers the sounds you need with friends and family through its six audio speakers that are packaged as standard for all variants.

Safety/Convenience

Just like all other Kia offerings, the new Stonic also puts safety as top priority. The projector headlamp design plus the LED Daytime Running Lights for the EX (front fog lamps for the LX) –which complement the overall appearance of the front fascia—provide ample illumination for the driver to ensure that the view is not compromised.

Aside from the dual front airbags, three-point seat belts with pretensioners and anti-brake lock system, Rear Camera with Dynamic Guidelines, ISOFIX child anchors and child lock come as standard, making sure that the little one will stay firmly secured while in transit.

For more peace of mind, the new Stonic has driver-assistive features such as the Parking Distance Warning, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Hill Start Assist (all exclusive for the EX variant)—so that the driver can have more time focusing on the road. In addition, smart keyless entry and illuminated push start button are also fitted inside the EX variant.

Aftersales Benefits

The new Stonic is served with up to five-year or 160,000-km warranty, as well as with a 24/7 Roadside Assistance FREE for five years which covers Emergency Towing, Personal Assistance, Minor Onsite Repair, Medical Assistance and Information Service for a secured, enjoyable and worry-free ownership.

Pricing Advantage

This value-packed offering would be making an impact not just in style, but also for its price point. Prior to its public unveiling, the new Stonic made quite a following already after reservations have already reached by the hundreds. This can be attributed to the growing number of clients who have placed their trust and confidence to the brand and have appreciated the stylish appeal of the newly-introduced vehicle.

As Thanksgiving treat due to the overwhelming numbers generated and as Kia’s way of giving fresh hope as we gradually shift back to normal routines and activities, the introductory price for the new Stonic—which varies from P675,000 for the LX MT, P785,000 for the mid-range automatic (LX AT) and P875,000 for the top-grade EX AT—will be extended until the end of November .

Should customers miss the opportunity, worry not as the said variants are still competitively-priced:  the LX MT retails at P735,000, the LX AT at P835,000 and the EX AT at P925,000—all well below the P1-million mark. The strategic positioning of its prices makes it more enticing to those who are currently in the hunt to buy subcompact SUVs, crossovers as well as adjacent subcompact segments.

Relatedly, Zara, during his speech, expressed his full support to the brand and its network of 38 dealers, which would push for digitization, innovation and customer-centric initiatives.

“We will continue to bring new digital tools to our dealerships to improve, not only our operational efficiency, but also to enhance the customer’s experience,” Zara explained.
